Renowned carver, painter, printmaker, and storyteller of Tsimshian, Haida, Heiltsuk, and British heritage, Roy Vickers is the author and illustrator of books for children and adults. His work can be found in private and public collections and galleries around the world. His children's books include Raven Brings the Light (2013), Cloudwalker (2014), Orca Chief (2015), Peace Dancer (2016), and a series of board books: Hello Humpback!, One Eagle Soaring, Sockeye Silver, Saltchuck Blue, Raven Squawk, Orca Squeak, and A is for Anemone. Finding Winnie: The remarkable true story of Winnie-the-Pooh and one great granddaughter’s journey to discover it. torontopubliclibrary.typepad.com/arts_culture/2021/01/the-three-bears-before-goldilocks-the-history-of-a-fairy-tale.html Lindsay Mattick is the great granddaughter of Captain Harry Colebourn – the Canadian veterinarian and soldier who purchased the small black bear cub that fatefully went on to inspire A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh. Lindsay will share the adventure she’s had exploring her family history as well as the challenges and rewards of bringing it to life in her award-winning picture book Finding Winnie and the charming middle grade novel Winnie's Great War. Lahmer, Pantazzi and Stubbs Lectures rescheduled: three great speakers in 2021 The Sybille Pantazzi Memorial Lecture and the Helen E. Stubbs Memorial Lecture, both scheduled for the fall of 2020, have been moved to the new year. We look forward to hearing our award-winning speakers, illustrator/author Jillian Tamaki and author Kathy Stinson in the new year. The Albert and Clara Lahmer Lecture, originally scheduled for April 2020 and cancelled because of the shutdown, has also been rescheduled.
